Let's dive into the key changes you need to know about.

Change to the price limit for Art Therapist and Music Therapist (Page 96)

Reduction from $193.99 per hour to $156.16 per hour

Updated guidelines for community, social and recreational activities (Page 66) and community participation activities (Page 80)

Amendment to include that providers may not use this support for:

  • Fees and payments for outside school hours care (i.e. before/after school care, vacation care, school holiday programs)

  • Membership costs, venue hires, uniforms, entry to a recreational club/gym

  • Non-modified/adaptive equipment including tools, toys, balls and racquets

Innovative Community Participation (Page 79)

Designed for supports that are tailored for each person to assist with community participation (not subject to a price limit)

  • An agreement is needed between the provider and participant on the reasonable price for support

  • Agreement is needed around the billing schedule

Update guides for Claiming of ‘Other Professional’ line items (Page 95)

This can only be used if no specific category exists for the service delivered

Providers must:

  • Use the correct line item

  • Justify any use with documentation

  • Update service agreements

Updates on provider travel claiming (page 21)

Travel must be agreed upon:

  • Travel costs must be in line with the Monash Medical Model (MMM) which classifies whether an area is considered a major city (MMM1) or remote (MMM7)

  • This impacts how much can be charged

Up to 30m of travel can be charged each way for (MMM1-3)

Up to 1 hour of travel can be charged for each way (MMM4-5)

For providers: Travel time must be charged separately

Therapy support can only charge for 50% of the time travelled

Tips and tricks:

Apportioning/splitting the cost of travel across multiple participants (if you are planning on visiting on the same day)

Short Term Respite (Page 52)

Previously known as short term accommodation, pricing arrangement still lists this though NDIS have released an updated short term respite guideline

Short term respite (STR) allows you to have time apart, for at least one night, from your primary informal supports who give you significant daily support. This provides the opportunity for you to be supported by someone else, while giving your primary informal supports a short break from their usual caring responsibilities

Might look like:

  • Respite facility

  • Hotel

  • Motel

  • Short day rental

  • Cabin

  • Cottage

  • Homestay

  • Own home

 Can’t be used for

  • Holidays

  • Airfares

  • Cruises

  • Overseas travel

High Intensive Supports (page 41)

Plan Managed participants must use a provider who has completed Module 2A during the provision of intensive and complex behaviour supports, or when delivering restrictive practice
